The Illinois State women's tennis team, holding a 3-3 record, is set to face the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis on Wednesday. The Bulldogs, part of the Big East Conference, have yet to secure a win this season with a current record of 0-6. Following this match, Illinois State will return to Bloomington to host Chicago State on Sunday.

In their most recent outing, the Redbirds were defeated by Fordham University with a score of 4-0 at the Cary Leeds Center on February 7. Prior to that loss, they secured a victory against Marquette Golden Eagles, also from the Big East Conference, winning 5-2 on February 1 at Sprovieri Tennis Complex. This win was achieved through two doubles wins and four singles victories.

Butler's latest match resulted in a close loss to Arkansas State with a score of 4-3 on February 7 at the Indianapolis Racquet Club. Notably, Chase Metcalf won her singles match against Anna Grigoreva with scores of 6-4, 6-4 and paired with Brooke Arington for a doubles victory over Grigoreva and Carla Muro Castellvi.

Chicago State Cougars ended their previous season with an overall record of 16-13 and a Horizon League record of 5-1. They advanced to the NCAA First Round but were defeated by Michigan Wolverines with a final score of 4-0 at Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor.

Looking ahead, Illinois State will travel to Huntington for consecutive matches against Marshall Thundering Herd and Radford Highlanders on February 21 and February 22 respectively.
