The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team secured a victory over Webster University with a score of 5-2 on Saturday night at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois. This win improves the Titans' overall record to 2-3, while Webster's record falls to 2-4.

In doubles play, IWU achieved a clean sweep to earn the one-point advantage. Juniors Ian Turnbull and Ben Vigneri won their match 6-2. Ryan McCoy and Thad Dillow followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. Griffin Hammond and Chase Tomecki completed the sweep with a decisive 6-0 win in the third position.

In singles matches, Turnbull claimed victory in the No. 1 spot after an intense super tiebreaker set, winning 14-12. Vigneri and McCoy also secured wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, with scores of 6-4, 6-2 for Vigneri and 6-0, 6-3 for McCoy. Tomecki rounded off the competition by winning his sets at No. 6 singles with scores of 6-4, 6-1.

The Titans will remain on home ground to host Greenville University and Central College during the weekend of March 1st and March 2nd. The match against Greenville is scheduled for Saturday at 3:45 p.m., followed by Central on Sunday at 12:15 p.m.

Singles competition results were as follows:

1. Ian Turnbull (IWU) defeated Ethan Foucheaux (WU) with scores of 6-3, 3-6, and a tiebreaker of (14-12).

2. Ben Vigneri (IWU) overcame Carson Fisher (WU) with scores of 6-4, 6-2.

3. Ryan McCoy (IWU) triumphed over Matt Birchmeier (WU) with scores of 6-0, 6-3.

4. Eli Bartek (WU) defeated Thad Dillow (IWU) with scores of 4-6, 6-1, and a final set score of (11-9).

5. Jack Forlenza (WU) beat Griffin Hammond (IWU) in three sets: a tiebreaker score of (7-5), then losing the second set but winning the final tiebreaker.

6. Chase Tomecki (IWU) won against Shawn Smith (WU), scoring two sets at 6-4 and then at least one more set scored at least once again within this range.

Doubles competition results included:

1. Ian Turnbull/Ben Vigneri (IWU) defeated Ethan Foucheaux/Matt Birchmeier (WU), scoring a decisive win.

2. Ryan McCoy/Thad Dillow (IWU) overcame Carson Fisher/Eli Bartek (WU).

3. Griffin Hammond/Chase Tomecki completed their game against Jack Forlenza/Andrew McDonald from WU without dropping any games in their final set.
