The Illinois Wesleyan University swim and dive teams began their participation in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships on Wednesday, February 19, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The events included a one-meter dive competition and the 800-yard freestyle relay for both men's and women's teams.
Freshman diver Sarah Worsley from Shorewood, Illinois, representing Joliet West, delivered a notable performance in the one-meter dive event. Worsley secured sixth place with a score of 283.50. Her seventh dive, a reverse one somersault tuck, was particularly impressive and contributed significantly to her overall score. She narrowly missed her personal best by 13 points, having previously achieved a score of 296.15 against Franklin College earlier this season.
The evening session featured the Titan swimmers competing in the 800-yard freestyle relay at 7 p.m. The women's team comprised junior Natalie Porter from Danville High School, senior Alexa Starkey from Normal Community West High School, sophomore Sam Borre from James B. Conant High School, and freshman Julia Jozwiak from Wauconda High School. They finished fourth with a time of 8:02.69.
On the men's side, seniors Carter Dilger from Jeffersonville High School and Colin McKibben from Libertyville High School teamed up with freshmen Jacob Nacional from Bolingbrook High School and Tate Thomas from Joliet West High School to also secure fourth place with a time of 7:17.40.
The Titans will continue their participation in the championships tomorrow at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex. Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10:20 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. Fans can follow the action through live streaming or live stats available on CCIW.org under the championships home page.
