The Illinois State Redbirds are set to face off against Jacksonville University in a three-game series this weekend at John Sessions Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The series begins with a matchup on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by games on Saturday and Sunday.

Illinois State's projected pitching rotation includes Tanner Perry, Carter Monke, and Ryan Weaver. The Redbirds aim to secure victories after opening their season with two close losses against Western Kentucky.

Jacksonville University enters the series with a 0-4 record for the 2025 season. The Dolphins recently hosted West Virginia and Florida. Under the guidance of Chris Hayes, who is in his ninth season as head coach, Jacksonville ended last year with a 27-31 record.

In terms of past encounters, Illinois State has faced Jacksonville three times previously, holding a 1-2 record against them. Their most recent meeting was during the shortened 2020 season when Illinois State claimed its first victory over the Dolphins.

As part of their broader schedule for the year, Illinois State will compete against teams that averaged 27 wins last season and include five NCAA regional qualifiers. Notably, seven of their opponents finished last season within the top 100 RPI rankings.

Additionally, Illinois State will host the Missouri Valley Conference Championships from May 20 to May 24 at Duffy Bass Field in Normal, Illinois. This marks the first time since 2019 that they have hosted this event.

After this weekend's games against Jacksonville University, Illinois State will continue their season with another series at Lindenwood from February 28 to March 2.
