Illinois State concludes indoor track season with strong performances

The Illinois State Track & Field team concluded its indoor regular season at the Redbird Tune-Up held at Horton Field House in Normal, Illinois. The event showcased several notable performances from both men's and women's teams.

Sophomore Garrett Taylor achieved a throw of 17.34m (56-10.75) in the men's shot put, placing him eighth all-time in the program's history. In women's pole vault, Senior Windsor Roberts broke her own facility record with a jump of 3.92m (12-10.25). Junior Isabelle Hemmen and Freshman Aubrey Griffin followed with jumps of 3.67m (12-0.5) and 3.52m (11-6.5), respectively.

On the men's side, Junior Charles Cruse won the pole vault by clearing 4.85m (15-11), while Senior Ariel Atias finished second with a clearance of 4.70m (15-5). Sophomore Chavi Flowers secured victory in the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.66.

Senior Kevyere Mack led a Redbirds sweep in the men's 60m hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.29 seconds, while Senior Michael Marrs won the men's 200m dash at 22.80 seconds and Kristyn Johnson claimed victory on the women's side with a personal best time of 25.65 seconds.

Junior Nnenna Okpara took first place in the women's 400m race clocking in at 59.09 seconds, and Sophomore Trixie Johnson won the women's 800m with a time of 2:20:28.

In distance events, Seniors Ian Geisler and Viviana Sanfilippo each captured wins in their respective mile races; Geisler completed his run in 4:18:52 while Sanfilippo recorded a time of 5:05:51.

Freshmen Trey Thomas and Sydney Skarich dominated high jump events for Illinois State, as Thomas matched his season-best mark by clearing at height of 2 meters (6-6¾), while Skarich cleared bar set to height equivalent approximately measuring about one point five nine meters or roughly five feet two inches-and-a-half .

The Redbirds also excelled in triple jump competitions where Freshman Zion Russell achieved personal best leap reaching fourteen meters eleven-and-quarter inches ,and Sophomore Alice Sotelo marked successful attempt covering distance equaling eleven point twenty-four meters .

Sophomore Megan Clark notched win within category concerning long jumping activities producing season-high performance measuring approximately five point fifty-five meters . Freshman Chidiogo Odeluga earned fourth place via personal record throw spanning thirteen-point-one-four meter distance .
