Illinois Wesleyan enters postseason ranked No.16 in final D3hoops.com poll

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team has secured the 16th spot in the final D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll of the regular season. This ranking was announced on Monday, February 24, as the team prepares to enter the postseason. Illinois Wesleyan is one of two teams from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) to make it into the national rankings, with Carthage College holding the 23rd position.

Wesleyan (Conn.) maintained its top position in the poll with 24 first-place votes and a total of 623 points. New York University follows in second place with 593 points, while UW-Platteville ranks third with 584 points and one first-place vote. The fourth and fifth positions are held by UW-La Crosse and Randolph-Macon, respectively.

Illinois Wesleyan earned a total of 259 points in this poll after finishing their last week of regular season games with a win against North Park, scoring 87-81 on February 19 at Shirk Center, but losing to Augustana with a score of 85-76 on February 22.

The Titans will compete as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCIW Tournament starting Friday night, February 28. They are scheduled to play their semifinal game at 5 p.m., while Carthage, which holds the top seed, will play at 7:30 p.m.

According to D3hoops.com’s Week 12 men's Top-25 for the season:

1. Wesleyan (Conn.) remains undefeated with a record of 25-0.

2. New York University stands at a record of 23-1.

3. UW-Platteville follows closely behind at a record of 23-2.

4. UW-La Crosse improved its standing to fourth place.

5. Randolph-Macon moved down slightly to fifth place.

The D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll is determined by votes from a panel consisting of coaches, Sports Information Directors, and media members nationwide. Points are distributed based on rankings from first to twenty-fifth places.
