Illinois Wesleyan prepares for clash against Benedictine after strong weekend performance

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is set to face Benedictine University in a midweek game scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex. The match will commence at 6 p.m. in Lisle, Illinois.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the contest following a decisive victory over Aurora University, where they secured a 13-7 win on Saturday, February 22. Sophomore Timothy McHugh contributed significantly with four points against the Spartans, including three assists and one goal. Fifth-year player Ike Eastburn led the team in scoring with three goals.

Defensively, senior Nick Horrocks was instrumental with four caused turnovers, while senior Nick Schroeder collected five ground balls and achieved an 8-for-15 record at faceoff. Senior goalkeeper Colin Tervo made 19 saves during the game against Aurora University.

Tervo has accumulated 44 saves across three games this season, averaging 14.67 saves per game—a figure that leads the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and ranks him 45th nationally in Division III. His save percentage of .620 places him 34th nationwide. Schroeder's faceoff winning percentage of .667 is also leading within the conference and ranks him 33rd nationally. McHugh averages 3.67 assists per game, ranking third in the conference and placing him at No. 22 nationally.

As a team, Illinois Wesleyan stands out with rankings such as 12th in assists (29), 17th in points (75), and 21st in saves (44). They are also ranked for their assists per game (9.67), faceoff win percentage (.700), and points per game (25.00).

The Titans approach Wednesday's matchup undefeated with a record of 3-0, while Benedictine holds a record of 0-1 after losing to North Central College by a score of 12-2 on Saturday. Historically, Illinois Wesleyan has been successful against Benedictine, having won all previous encounters between the two teams.
