Illinois State begins MVC swimming championships; highlights include medley relay success

The Illinois State Swimming and Diving team began their participation in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Waukee, Iowa. On Wednesday, the team was highlighted by a fifth-place finish from Team A in the 200-medley relay with swimmers Chloe Tyler, Sydney Hoff, Mia Snow, and Ella Turken achieving a time of 1:40.73.

In individual finishes, Team B consisting of Delaney Boulden, Hailey Fris, Giulia Basco, and Ines Kieffel completed the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:43.35. In the 800 Yard Free Relay event, Amelia Murphy, Lauren Hervey, Sylvia Admire, and Emma Feltzer secured seventh place with a time of 7:30.96.

On the diving boards, Selena Corona, Emma Thompson, and Eva Reyes placed second with a combined score of 258.75.

The standings after day one are as follows:

- Southern Illinois leads with 128 points.

- Indiana State is in second place with 112 points.

- Missouri State has earned third place with 108 points.

- Little Rock holds fourth place at 104 points.

- UIC shares fifth place alongside ISU and UNI each at 96 points.

- Valpo stands eighth with 84 points.

- Evansville rounds out the list in ninth place at 44 points.

The schedule for day two includes preliminaries starting at 10:30 AM for events such as the 500y Freestyle and others followed by finals at 6:00 PM including various swimming categories like the 400y Medley Relay.
