The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team is set to begin its 2025 season with a match against Cornell College on Sunday, March 2. The Titans, holding a record of 6-6, will play at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois. This will be their first appearance since October 12, 2024. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
The Titans aim to improve their performance after finishing the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schedule with a recent loss to North Central College by a score of 7-0. Despite this setback, IWU achieved two CCIW victories this fall against Millikin University and Elmhurst University, marking their best conference performance since the 2021-22 season.
Sophomore Amber Ehrlich from Springfield, Illinois has been recognized for her contributions to the team. She earned Second Team All-CCIW honors for the second consecutive year. Playing as the No. 1 singles player and part of the top doubles pair, Ehrlich secured five wins during CCIW competition. Her individual victories include matches against North Park's Hanna Zethraeus, Emily Markus from Millikin, and Elmhurst's Anna Sophia Stone. Ehrlich ended with a singles record of 3-4.
This upcoming encounter with Cornell marks only the third meeting between these teams and their first since 2019 when Cornell won with a score of 7-2.
