The Illinois State Swimming and Diving team concluded their participation in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Saturday at the CSD Waukee Natatorium in Iowa. The team achieved eight lifetime bests and 12 season bests during the event.
Diver Eva Reyes stood out by securing a bronze medal in the 3-meter diving championships with a score of 290.55. Several team members received MVC Honorable Mention nominations, including graduate student Cassidy Carey and juniors Chloe Tyler, Giulia Basco, and Delaney Boulden. Seniors Emma Feltzer, Mia Snow, and Eva Reyes were awarded Missouri Valley Conference first-team honors.
The team's lifetime best performances included Amelia Murphy in the 200 Back, Mia Snow, Ella Turken, Ines Kieffel, and Emma Feltzer in the 100 Free, Hailey Fris in the 200 Back, Avery Watson in the 200 Fly, and Lauren Hervey in the 100 Free.
Season bests were recorded by Delaney Boulden in both prelims and finals of the 200 Back, Cassidy Carey also in the 200 Back as well as the 200 Fly alongside Giulia Basco. Other notable performances included Sylvia Admire and Adi Luker in the 100 Free, Ella Glaspie and Maya Burkstrand in the 1650 event, Sydney Hoff and Shelby Gourley in the 200 Breast.
In terms of final standings at the championships: Indiana State led with a score of 1440.5 points followed by Southern Illinois with 1331 points. Missouri State scored third with 1034 points while UNI finished fourth with a total of 929.5 points. UIC came fifth with a score of 875.5 followed by Little Rock with a score of 791 points. Illinois State placed seventh with a total of 738 points while Evansville and Valpo rounded out the standings with scores of 253 and 226.5 respectively.
