Illinois State triumphs over Eastern Illinois in women's tennis match

The Illinois State women's tennis team secured a decisive victory over Eastern Illinois with a score of 6-1. The match took place on Sunday, March 2, at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois. This win brings the Redbirds' record to 6-4 while Eastern Illinois falls to 2-12.

In doubles play, the duo of Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli defeated Kostadinova and Wooten from EIU with a score of 6-3. Meanwhile, Elena Jankulovska and Emma Lindh triumphed over Fay and Salazar with a close 7-6 win after losing the first set 5-7. The third doubles match saw Nicole Iosio and Nuria Sanz winning by withdrawal from Eastern Illinois.

During singles competition, EIU's Wooten defeated ISU's Lana Caculovic in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. However, Silvia Pomarolli earned a victory against Fay with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Nuria Sanz also claimed victory for ISU against Michelle Kostadinova with scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Elena Jankulovska added another point for the Redbirds by defeating Renovales-Salazar in two sets, finishing at 6-1 and 6-4. The final two singles matches ended as wins by withdrawal for Sophie Marie-Lowe and Nicole Iosio from ISU.

The Redbirds will continue their season on March 7 when they face SIUE in Edwardsville. Following that match, they will travel to Irvine, California for back-to-back road contests against Utah State and UC-Irvine on March 10th and 11th respectively.
