The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team claimed a four-set victory over Augustana College on Saturday, March 1. The match concluded with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, and 25-22. This win allows the Titans to tie their program record for wins in a season, marking their 11th win and moving them to an overall score of 11-7 and 1-3 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. Augustana's record now stands at 10-7 overall and 0-3 in CCIW action.
Jace Milka led the team's offense with a career-high of 19 kills and a total of 23.5 points. Bryce Williams contributed with 13 points, while Gavin Rohlwing added eight kills. Vince DiCosola provided significant support with 25 assists, accompanied by Brenden Reutter's contribution of 22 assists. DiCosola also recorded two aces alongside Cael Whitchurch.
Defensively, Reutter achieved a double-double with ten digs. Daniel Overstreet followed closely behind with nine digs in his starting role as libero. Rohlwing continued his defensive prowess with eight blocks, supported by Milka's six rejections.
IWU demonstrated statistical advantages over Augustana in several areas: kills (55-44), assists (50-40), aces (7-3), and blocks (11-4). Both teams had a total of 41 digs each.
The Titans started strong by securing the first four points of the match. As both teams remained neck-and-neck through much of the set, IWU managed to gain an advantage due to strategic plays from Milka and Williams. Despite Augustana's efforts to catch up throughout the game, IWU maintained control during critical moments.
Augustana managed to take one set away from IWU but was unable to sustain momentum through subsequent sets as the Titans secured their victory by winning the final set.
Illinois Wesleyan is scheduled for an upcoming match against No.12 Loras College on Wednesday night, March 5 at Lillis Athletic & Wellness Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
