For the third time this season, Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball freshman Gavin Rohlwing has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made on Monday, March 3.

Rohlwing is the only player in the program's history to receive this honor multiple times in a career. He joins sophomore Brenden Reutter as one of the Titans who have received this accolade this season. Both players were recognized on February 10, with Reutter being named setter of the week. Rohlwing first received this recognition on February 3.

During a recent week, Rohlwing led his team to a 1-1 record, including an important CCIW victory over Augustana College. Over that period, he recorded 15 blocks, averaging 1.88 per game, along with 13 kills, two digs, and an ace and a set, accumulating a total of 23 points.

In a match against North Park University on Wednesday, February 26, Rohlwing achieved seven blocks, five kills, two digs, and an assist. He concluded the week with eight blocks, eight kills, and an ace for a total of 13.5 points in a four-set win over Augustana on Saturday, March 1.

Rohlwing hails from Tower Lake, Illinois and currently leads the CCIW while ranking sixth in Division III with an average of 1.154 blocks per set. He has already set a new single-season blocks record for the Titans after just 13 games by surpassing the previous record of 51 rejections. As of now, he has accumulated 75 blocks for the season.

The Titans are scheduled to play against Loras College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5.
