Illinois State University (ISU) Athletics has announced that the court inside the North Gym at Horton Field House will be named The Lynch Family Court. This naming follows a significant investment in the men's and women's basketball programs, facilitated by the Lynch Family Fund agreement signed in Fall 2024 and approved by the Illinois State Board of Trustees on February 21, 2025.
Dr. Jeri Beggs, ISU Interim Director of Athletics, expressed gratitude towards Glen and Jan Lynch for their support: "I am so thankful for the loyal support from Glen and Jan over the years. They are true Redbirds, and it is a joy seeing their entire family at games. With generous donors like Glen and Jan, we are able to provide a better experience for our student-athletes. Redbird Athletics can take another step forward today with the Lynch family on our side."
The Lynch Family Fund aims to enhance facilities within North Gym in Horton Field House and CEFCU Arena for ISU's basketball programs. Glen and Janet Lynch are committed to advancing Redbird basketball through this investment. In January, ISU Athletics used funds from the Lynch Family Fund to purchase new baskets and padding.
"Our family is dedicated to helping ISU grow as an institution of academic and athletic success," stated Glen and Janet Lynch. "Neither one of us graduated from Illinois State, but Jan's family (Wells) has so many Illinois State ties... We love having our family with us at all home games... Most importantly, Go Redbirds!"
The Lynches have been long-time supporters of Redbird basketball as season ticket holders and Weisbecker Athletic Fund donors. Their contributions have also included enhancement projects at CEFCU Arena.
ISU men's basketball head coach Ryan Pedon said, "The Lynchs are great friends to the program, and we can't wait to see their name on the floor in North Gym." Women's basketball coach Kristen Gillespie added that this commitment provides opportunities for student-athletes well into the future.
