After leading the Illinois State Redbirds to a quad meet victory over Centenary, Central Michigan, and Bowling Green, seniors Sara Wabi and Alana Laster received weekly honors from the Midwest Independent Conference.
Sara Wabi was named the MIC Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season. Her standout performance came on bars, where she achieved a career-high score of 9.900, securing first place in that event. She also placed third on the floor with a score of 9.850 and competed on vault. These contributions helped Illinois State achieve a team total of 49.100 on bars, tying for the third-highest score in program history.
Alana Laster earned MIC Performance of the Week honors for her efforts during Friday night's competition. Competing in only two events, she tied for first place on both floor with a score of 9.875 and vault with a score of 9.825. Her performances contributed to Illinois State's second-highest team score of the year at 195.725.
The Redbirds are set to compete again on Saturday, March 8, against Minnesota at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis at 4 p.m. CT.
