Illinois State women's tennis team falls to SIUE in non-conference match

The Illinois State women's tennis team faced a setback in their recent non-conference match against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). The match, held at the Y Meyer Center in Edwardsville, ended with a 4-2 victory for SIUE.

In doubles competition, the No. 1 pair from Illinois State, juniors Silvia Pomarolli and Lana Caculovic, managed to secure a win over SIUE's Amelia Gorman and Cydney Rogers with a score of 6-4. Similarly, at the No. 3 position, freshman Nicole Iosio and junior Nuria Sanz defeated Paige Duncan and Chloe Koons from SIUE by the same margin.

During singles play, Caculovic achieved another victory for Illinois State by defeating Margaux Britt Guibal from SIUE with scores of 6-0, 7-6 at the No. 2 position.

Despite these wins, SIUE proved stronger overall. In other singles matches, Amelia Gorman overcame Silvia Pomarolli in three sets at the No. 1 position. Payton Tomichek defeated Emma Lindh at No. 3, while Paige Duncan won against Nuria Sanz at No. 4. Additionally, Stefaniya Anikina bested Nicole Iosio at No. 5.

Looking ahead, Illinois State will travel to Irvine, California for matches against Utah State on March 10 and UC-Irvine on March 11.
