Illinois State University's DeShaun Jordan has been named the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Women's Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year. This announcement came from the conference office on Monday after a vote by the league's head coaches.
This accolade is a first for Jordan in his career, marking his second consecutive year receiving recognition from the MVC. Last year, he was awarded the 2024 Men's MVC Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year following the MVC Indoor Championships.
At this year's MVC Indoor Track & Field Championships, Jordan played a pivotal role in coaching 15 Redbird athletes to score points on 29 occasions. Under his guidance, the women's team accumulated 53 points with contributions from eight different athletes and secured two individual conference titles.
Jordan's efforts also led junior Lindsey Miller to win the MVC Women's Most Valuable Athlete Award during the championship weekend. Miller achieved this honor by winning both the 60m dash and 200m dash MVC titles and contributing as part of Illinois State's 4x400m relay team.
Looking ahead, Illinois State's track & field teams will commence their outdoor season on March 28-29. They are set to host the Redbird Challenge in Normal and participate in the WashU Distance Festival in St. Louis, Missouri.
