For the fifth time this season, Elyce Knudsen from Illinois State has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Newcomer of the Week. The announcement was made by the league on Monday. Knudsen averaged 20.5 points per game with a shooting percentage of 55.6% from the floor and 71.4% from three-point range across two games for Illinois State last week.

In a victory over Southern Illinois on Sunday, she scored a season-high of 28 points, including a career-high seven three-pointers and five assists. This was the highest point total in a single game by any newcomer in the past week. She is among four MVC players this season to score over 25 points and make more than seven threes in one Valley game, and she is the only newcomer to achieve this feat.

Knudsen's performance included shooting 62.5% from the floor and maintaining her accuracy at 71.4% from deep, marking her second MVC game this year where she scored over 20 points with better than 60% shooting both overall and from three-point range. No other MVC newcomer has managed to reach these statistics in any Valley game this season.

This recognition marks Knudsen's second consecutive week as MVC Newcomer of the Week, bringing her total awards to an MVC-best eighth time for an Illinois State Redbird player this year. Addison Martin has also received this honor three times on February 3rd, January 13th, and November 11th.
