Illinois State University's fifth-year senior, Kaitlyn Donovan, has been recognized as the Midwest Independent Conference Coaches Choice of the Week. This honor highlights her dedication both in and out of the gym.

Donovan was nominated for this accolade by Illinois State head coach Bob Conkling. Alongside pursuing a master's degree, she works full-time as a nurse and trains as a collegiate gymnast. Her routine involves heading directly from overnight shifts to early morning workouts, requiring meticulous planning and meal preparation.

Coach Conkling noted that Donovan, hailing from South Lyon, Michigan, is proactive in volunteering despite her packed schedule. She served as President of the Illinois State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee last year and remains active on campus and in the community.

In this gymnastics season, Donovan has participated in every floor meet and seven vault meets for ISU. Her standout performance occurred at the Next Level Podium Meet with season highs on vault (9.725) and floor (9.825). Recently, she achieved a score of 9.775 against Minnesota.

Donovan will be celebrated alongside fellow seniors Julia Heiner, Alana Laster, Jaye Mack, Mya Robinson, and Sara Wabi during Senior Night at CEFCU Arena when ISU hosts Southeast Missouri State for their final regular-season meet before heading to the MIC Championships on March 21.
