In a midweek matchup, the Illinois State Redbirds faced off against the University of Illinois at Eichelberger Field. The game ended with a 3-1 victory for the Illini, who took an early lead and maintained it throughout.

The Redbirds' offense was highlighted by Abby Knight, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Lexie Griffin contributed with a hit and an RBI, while Bella Wilkerson also added a double to her name.

Illinois established their lead in the second inning with two-out RBI singles that brought them ahead 2-0. The Redbirds responded in the fifth inning when Bella Wilkerson doubled and was replaced by pinch-runner Marissa Moffett. Following a single from Bella Atkinson that advanced Moffett to third base, Lexie Griffin drove her home with an RBI single through the left side, cutting Illinois' lead to 2-1. However, Illinois added another run in their half of the fifth inning to secure their 3-1 win.

Looking ahead, Illinois State will begin Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend against Southern Illinois in Carbondale. The series is set for three games starting Friday at 1 p.m., adjusted due to expected inclement weather.
