The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is preparing for a match against Ursinus College on Friday, March 14, at Washburn Field in Colorado Springs. This comes after their six-game winning streak was ended by a loss to Colorado College on Wednesday night, March 12. The Titans now hold a season record of 6-1.
In the recent game against Colorado College, sophomore Timothy McHugh led with three goals. Fifth-year player Gage Black contributed two goals and an assist. Senior Nick Schroeder excelled in faceoffs, securing six ground balls and winning 15 out of 26 faceoffs. Senior Nick Horrocks had two caused turnovers, while senior goalie Colin Tervo made 15 saves.
McHugh has been a key player this season with 29 points, including eight goals and 21 assists over seven games. Ike Eastburn leads the team in goals with 21, followed closely by Black with 20 goals and five assists. Schroeder remains pivotal in faceoffs with a .676 win percentage and leads the team in ground balls with 40.
On defense, senior Sam Skelton has caused 14 turnovers and collected 23 ground balls. In goal, Tervo has played most games this season, recording a .538 save percentage across his appearances. Freshman Jaymeson Zackery has also contributed as goalie in two games.
