The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team faced a close defeat against the University of Wisconsin-Superior, with a final score of 4-3 on Thursday, March 13. This loss brings IWU's record to 3-6, while UWS improves to 4-9.

In doubles play, juniors Ian Turnbull and Ben Vigneri secured the only win for the Titans with a 6-4 victory in the top paired spot. However, IWU could not secure another doubles win, resulting in a one-point decision loss.

Ben Vigneri continued his strong performance in singles play by winning at No. 2 singles with set scores of 6-3, 6-2. Fifth-year Ryan McCoy also claimed victory at No. 3 singles, winning his match with set scores of 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Thad Dillow required extra effort to win at No. 4 singles; he won the first set 7-6 after a tiebreaker but lost the second set 6-3 before clinching the super tiebreaker with a score of 10-5.

Despite these efforts, Illinois Wesleyan could not secure additional victories and fell short with a final score of 4-3. The Titans will wrap up their spring break trip and return to nearby courts on Saturday, March 23, traveling to Elsah, Illinois. They are scheduled to compete in two matches at Principia College: against Monmouth College at 12:30 p.m., followed by a dual with Principia at 4 p.m.

Singles competition results were as follows:

1. Igor Guetten Chaves (UWSM) defeated Ian Turnbull (IWU) with scores of 6-1, 6-4.

2. Ben Vigneri (IWU) defeated Yash Chhabra (UWSM) with scores of 6-3, 6-2.

3. Ryan McCoy (IWU) defeated Mateo Abarca Pino (UWSM) with scores of 6-1, 6-2.

4. Thad Dillow (IWU) defeated Vitor Sakakibara (UWSM) after three sets: [7-6(7), [5], [3], [10]-[5].

5. Brandon Chu (UWSM) defeated Griffin Hammond (IWU) after three sets: [1]-[0], [0]-[0].

6. Blake Haugen (UWSM) defeated Chase Tomecki (IWU): [0]-[0], [0]-[0].

In doubles competition:
