Illinois State University faced a tough challenge against Southern Illinois, falling 3-0 in the second game of their Missouri Valley Conference series. The Salukis, now with a record of 10-14 and 2-0 in the MVC, proved formidable on the mound for the second consecutive day, overpowering the Redbirds who stand at 6-20 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

McKenzie Newcomb played a crucial role for SIU by securing the win as a reliever, allowing no runs on four hits.
