SEDONA, Ariz. – The Illinois State University women's golf team secured a fifth-place finish in the weather-shortened Red Rocks Invitational. The tournament was reduced to 18 holes due to significant weather delays caused by snow and water on the course.
The teams initially started their rounds but had to stop just past the halfway point because of excess snow. Play did not resume the following day as conditions remained unfavorable, resulting in only one round being completed.
Jinyoung Yun achieved her seventh top-10 finish of the season with a sixth-place result, shooting a one-under 71. "Grand Canyon shot an even-par 288 to secure the 18-hole tournament title," while Northern Arizona, South Dakota State, and North Dakota State finished just ahead of Illinois State's score of 292.
Lory Paradis tied for 19th place with a one-over 73. Freshmen Elise Fennell and Jessica Jolly both scored two-over 74s, tying for 31st place. Morgan Jones ended with a three-over 75, tying for 42nd place, and Reagan Kennedy tied for 85th with an 80.
The Redbirds will next compete at the More Than Golf Invitational in Aiken, South Carolina, on March 28.
