The Illinois State Redbirds secured a victory in the 2025 Purple College Basketball Invitational, defeating the Cleveland State Vikings with a final score of 79-68. The game took place in Daytona Beach, Florida. Caden Boser led the Redbirds with a season-high 20 points, achieving a flawless shooting performance by going 7-of-7 from the field and 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.
In addition to Boser's performance, Johnny Kinziger and Chase Walker each contributed 13 points, while Dalton Banks and Ty Pence added 11 points each. The four seniors on the team combined for a total of 42 points in their last appearance as Redbirds.
Dalton Banks also contributed five assists during the game, and Johnny Kinziger's seven rebounds were noted as a game-high. With this win, the Redbirds concluded their season with an overall record of 22-14, marking their first time surpassing 20 wins since the 2016-17 season.
