Illinois State track and field team closes four meets with notable performances

The Illinois State track & field program concluded its participation in four events on Friday. The Redbirds took part in the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational, WashU Distance Carnival, and Redbird Challenge.

At the Texas Relays, sophomore Immaculate Daniel ran a time of 11.50 in the women's 100m dash, marking the second-best time in Illinois State history. She qualified for Saturday's 100m dash final.

The men's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Welch, Nwagwu, Paul, and Ward, achieved a personal best time of 3:09.56, the 10th fastest in Illinois State's history, following their victory at the 2025 MVC Indoor Championship.

At the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, senior Sean Hopkins returned in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.73m (22-1). Juniors Lindsey Miller and Erin Starks finished 10th and 12th respectively in the women's 200m, with times of 24.14 and 24.22.

During the WashU Distance Carnival, junior Viviana Sanfillipo ran a personal best of 17:58.31 in the women's 5000m. In the men's division, senior Noah Penry clocked 15:20.77, while senior Ian Geisler recorded a time of 15:05.62.

In Normal, at the Redbird Challenge, sophomore Cole Stevens achieved a personal best throw of 53.84m (176-7) in the hammer throw, earning third place. Junior Anthony Smith threw 51.01m (167-4) to secure sixth place. Sophomore Adison Scott recorded a fifth-place throw of 46.85m (153-8) in the women's competition.
