NORMAL, Ill. – The ISU football team completed its first scrimmage of Spring Camp at Hancock Stadium on Saturday morning, just before rainy weather conditions caused delays for other sports on the campus.
During the scrimmage, quarterback Beckham Pellant showcased a strong performance by leading multiple scoring drives. The opening score came after a 9-play drive, culminating in an 11-yard touchdown pass to Brett Kasper. In a dynamic follow-up play, Pellant connected with Andrew Rockford for a 50-yard touchdown. Pellant continued his success with a third touchdown to Eddie Kasper on a 49-yard completion. The high-performing scrimmage saw Pellant further impress with a 15-yard touchdown to Xavier Loyd. Cal Martine contributed to the high-scoring day with a two-yard rushing touchdown. Gavin Camp concluded the scrimmage with a 45-yard touchdown reception during the two-minute drill.
Pellant ended the day with notable statistics, achieving 24 completions out of 34 passes for 354 yards and five touchdowns. Leading the rushing efforts for the team, Matt Lawson secured 58 yards with 11 carries, while Martine added 51 yards and a touchdown. Among the receivers, Xavier Loyd accumulated 65 yards and a touchdown, and Andrew Rockford gained 53 yards with his single touchdown catch.
On the defensive side, Mark Cannon Jr. led with seven tackles. Jack Dwyer made significant plays, also recording seven tackles, including a sack and a tackle for loss. Chris Taylor contributed six tackles and two pass breakups, while Doreon Dubose had an interception to his name.
