The Illinois State women's tennis team achieved a decisive victory over the UNI Panthers with a score of 6-1. The match took place at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
During the doubles matchups, Illinois State secured points with wins from Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli at No. 1 against Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cordoso with a score of 7-6. Nuria Sanz and Nicole Iosio won 6-1 over Abbie Peterson and Lasya Mylavarapu in the No. 2 spot.
In singles competition, the Redbirds clinched five victories. Silvia Pomarolli delivered a strong performance, defeating Dalecka with a 6-1, 6-3 score in the No. 1 position. Lana Caculovic secured a 6-4, 6-2 win against Cordoso. Sanz emerged victorious in a close match at No. 4, overcoming Raznatovic by scores of 6-2, 7-6 (6), 10-2. Elena Jankulovska maintained the team's momentum with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Peterson. Nicole Iosio concluded the matches with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mylavarapu.
Next, the Illinois State team will host the Drake Bulldogs in another match inside the Evergreen Racquet Club.
