Titans men's lacrosse defeats Adrian College 23-18 at Tucci Stadium

Illinois Wesleyan University's men's lacrosse team secured a 23-18 victory against Adrian College at Tucci Stadium. This match marked IWU’s first home game since early March. With this win, the Titans improved their season record to 8-2, while Adrian now stands at 6-5.

The Titans dominated in several areas, including shots, ground balls, and turnovers. Adrian College led in saves, assists, and extra-player opportunities.

Nine players contributed to IWU’s scoring. Timothy McHugh led with eight points, consisting of four goals and four assists, and gathered four ground balls with a caused turnover. Ike Eastburn, Sam Weinberg, and Noah Dretzka each recorded four points. Eastburn tallied four goals, Weinberg three goals with one assist, and Dretzka two goals and two assists.

At the faceoff position, Nick Schroeder had 22 wins out of 32 tries and picked up 14 ground balls. Michael Rocco and Jake Sline also contributed to faceoff victories with several ground balls each. Billy McHugh led the team with two caused turnovers, adding two goals and more ground balls to his performance.

Goalkeeper Colin Tervo extended his record to 7-2, compiling 17 saves during his time in goal. Sam Scott replaced him for the final minutes.

IWU started strong, gaining an early lead which they held throughout the game. Adrian College periodically closed the gap, but key goals from Titans’ players maintained the lead. As the game progressed, both teams scored multiple goals, with IWU securing a decisive win.

Illinois Wesleyan will take a short break from competition and face North Central College on April 9 at Tucci Stadium.
