City of Fairbury City Council met March 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton Jr, Jon Kinate, and Bruce Weber were absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Schmidgall, second by Endres to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from January 22, 2025 council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 5-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments: ➢ District Superintendent Paula Crane to talk about upcoming referendum

→ Streets - Lonnie Rhoads, Superintendent - none

→ Fire – Josh Hoselton, Chief - none

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent – none

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – absent

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported –

➢ The City is here to help facilitate potential new construction of a new school building should the referendum pass

A. Motion by Endres, second by Norris to approve $5,424.20 quote from Slagel Manufacturing for picnic tables. Motion carried 5-0 YES- Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

B. Motion by Norris, second by Hoffman to approve appointment of Tamira Hoselton to the role of Fire Clerk. Motion carried 5-0 YES- Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

C. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Endres to approve $3,151,62 quote from Hagerty Steel & Aluminum Co to purchase aluminum for panel replacements at pool. Motion carried 5-0 YES- Norris Endres Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall

11. Other Items for Discussion & Information

➢ The City is aware of the want for a dog park in the City and is working to acquire grant funding for a potential dog park.
