Three Illinois Wesleyan University swimming and diving team members have been recognized for their academic achievements with College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors. The announcement was made by the organization on April 1.
Seniors Carter Dilger from Sellersburg, Indiana, and Alexa Starkey from Normal, Illinois, along with sophomore Sam Borre from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, received the Academic All-District accolades. This marks the first time that Dilger and Borre have received this recognition. Starkey, however, has been awarded this honor for the second consecutive year.
Starkey, an elementary education major, has maintained a 3.95 GPA at Illinois Wesleyan University. She has been competitive in all freestyle events during the CCIW championships, securing positions in the top 12 across various distances.
Dilger, pursuing a degree in biochemistry, concluded his academic journey with a 3.77 GPA. In the CCIW championships, he placed in the top three in the 200-yard fly, earning an All-CCIW nod for his performance.
Borre, a nursing major with a 3.85 GPA, competed in two swim and dive seasons. He earned notable finishes in the CCIW Championship across multiple backstroke and individual medley events.
The Academic All-America announcement is anticipated on April 22 for men and April 23 for women.
