The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team is set to compete in two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matches in the Chicago suburbs on Saturday, April 5. The Titans, who hold a 4-7 record, will first face Wheaton College at 10 a.m., followed by a 3 p.m. match against Elmhurst University.
The team's scheduled match against Millikin University on March 29 was postponed, marking their return to competition since March 22. On that day, IWU had a dominating 7-0 victory over Monmouth College but fell short against Principia with a 4-3 loss. Notable performances included Senior Griffin Hammond and Juniors Thad Dillow and Chase Tomecki, who all secured singles victories in both matches.
IWU will meet Wheaton for their 43rd encounter since the series began in 1990. Wheaton leads the series with a 38-4 record, including an 8-1 victory over IWU on April 27, 2024. Ian Turnbull managed a win for IWU at No. 1 singles during that match.
Against Elmhurst, IWU holds a more favorable series record, leading 14-9. The Titans have won the last four matches against Elmhurst, including a 9-0 win on March 30, 2024. In that match, Turnbull secured a victory at No. 1 singles, with other wins contributed by Ben Vigneri, Ryan McCoy, and Dillow in respective singles play.
