With its regular season finale approaching, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to face off against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Loras College for Senior Day at Shirk Center on Saturday, April 5, at 5 p.m.
On this occasion, the Titans (12-11, 2-7 CCIW) will honor their senior players Ryan Myers, Vince DiCosola, Luke Hartke, and Jake Kougan before the match. These four players constitute the program's second graduating class and will play their final game inside Shirk Center.
On April 2, IWU and 11th-ranked Loras (16-4, 7-2 CCIW) previously played in Dubuque, Iowa, where the Duhawks secured a victory in straight sets. During this match, sophomore Bryce Williams led the Titans in kills and aces, recording five and two, respectively. DiCosola achieved a team-high of 10 assists.
Throughout the season, Williams has been a key player for the Titans' offense, accumulating 223 kills, which translates to an average of 2.93 per set. Freshman Ethan Kuziela follows with 153 kills and an average of 2.47 per set. Gavin Rohlwing completes the top three with 145 kills on a .336 attack percentage, while Brenden Reutter has contributed significantly with 22 aces.
Reutter and DiCosola have led the team's offensive efforts this season. Reutter is the team leader in assists with 392, averaging 4.72 per set, closely followed by DiCosola with 355 assists, averaging 4.44 per set.
Junior Jace Milka currently leads the team in digs with 154, while Williams and Reutter have recorded 141 and 135, respectively. Regarding blocks, Rohlwing leads the team with 81, averaging 1.13 blocks per set, which ranks sixth nationally. Kougan and Reutter have 42 and 34 blocks respectively.
The match against Loras will mark the 11th encounter between the two teams, with Loras having won all previous meetings. A win for IWU is crucial to maintain their hopes for a berth in the CCIW Tournament.
