Playing their final match of the 2025 season, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team lost in straight sets to the 11th-ranked Loras College on Saturday at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois. The team was aiming for a spot in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament. With this loss, the Titans concluded the season with a 12-12 record, the first time they have finished at .500, and went 2-8 in conference play.
Illinois Wesleyan honored seniors Ryan Myers, Vince DiCosola, Luke Hartke, and Jake Kougan before the match. The seniors contributed significantly to building the program, which has completed its fifth year of collegiate competition.
Freshman Trey Marek led the team's offense with 10 kills on a .471 attack percentage. Sophomore Bryce Williams added five kills and had a team-high three aces.
Vince DiCosola led the offense with 13 assists in his final match. He finished with 1452 career assists, a program record. DiCosola, Myers, and freshman Ben Zima recorded four digs each for the defense. Freshman Lane Sunley had a team-high two blocks.
The Titans achieved 21 kills but struggled with a sub-zero attack percentage, while Loras posted 35 kills at a .382 rate. Loras also led in assists, digs, aces, and blocks.
In the first set, the Titans competed closely with Loras but ultimately dropped the set 25-19. The second set saw Loras win decisively 25-11. The third set was competitive with several lead changes, but the Titans lost 25-20.
The Titans end their season with a 12-12 record, tying for fourth in the CCIW at 2-8. Head Coach Brandon Mueller is set to return 15 team members next season.
