Illinois Wesleyan prepares to host North Central in CCIW women's lacrosse game

Illinois Wesleyan University's women's lacrosse team is set to face off against North Central College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match on Wednesday, April 16. The game will be held at Tucci Stadium at 4 p.m. The Titans, with a current record of 6-7 and 1-1 in the CCIW, are coming off a recent defeat by Carroll University. The Cardinals have an 8-3 record and remain undefeated in the conference, standing at 1-0.

Mia Fiandaca, a senior, stood out in the Titans' previous game with three goals. She also led in causing turnovers and collecting ground balls. Lizzie Rymarcsuk, another senior, provided her team with 16 saves in the goal.

Avery Setzler holds the top spot on the Titans with 29 points, consisting of 19 goals and 10 assists. Sadie Newton follows with 26 points, while Maddie Gibson and Fiandaca each hold 25 points. Fiandaca leads in goals with 25, with Newton and Setzler also contributing significantly. Additionally, Anelise DiGiovanni leads in assists with 11.

Newton also leads the team in draw controls with 49, followed by Fiandaca and Setzler. Fiandaca also leads in ground balls, with Setzler and Newton contributing as well. The Titans are ranked 17th nationally in caused turnovers per game.

In goal, Rymarcsuk showcases a record of 6-7, 122 saves, and a .475 save percentage. Historically, Illinois Wesleyan has been dominant in their previous meetings against North Central, winning 10 of 11.

The upcoming game, marking the twelfth meeting between the two teams in program history, will also serve as IWU's Athlete Ally Pride Game.
