Tucci Stadium | Illinois Wesleyan Titans
With the end of the regular season approaching, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is set to host Carroll University on Saturday, April 26, at Tucci Stadium. The occasion marks the team's senior day, with the ceremony scheduled for 11:50 a.m.
The game begins at noon, preceding a women's lacrosse matchup at 3 p.m. IWU will recognize nine seniors and four fifth-year players: Colin Tervo, John Kittoe, Sam Weinberg, Nick Schroeder, Sam Skelton, Nick Horrocks, Bobby Conroy, Jake Gisi, Tyler Crawford, Gage Black, Zo Lombardo, Bob Boone, and Ike Eastburn.
Having secured the No. 1 seed for the league tournament, Illinois Wesleyan (11-2, 3-0 CCIW) will be presented the CCIW Regular Season Championship trophy and banner. The team clinched at least a share of the title following a 12-11 comeback win against Elmhurst University on April 19, marking head coach Zach Iannucci's 150th career victory.
In that game, Bob Boone scored five points and claimed CCIW Offensive Player of the Week honors. Nick Schroeder and Sam Skelton led with six ground balls, while Colin Tervo recorded 14 saves. Timothy McHugh, a sophomore, leads the team with 60 points over 13 games. Ike Eastburn ranks prominently in several statistical categories.
IWU's defense is notable for leading the conference in turnovers and ground balls per game, with national rankings of 31st and 26th, respectively. The Titans also hold a ninth-place ranking in Division III for team winning percentage. Facing a five-game win streak, Illinois Wesleyan aims for its seventh consecutive perfect CCIW season against Carroll, which has a 5-8 overall record.
The historic rivalry between IWU and Carroll shows a 9-0 advantage for the Titans. Last year's game resulted in a decisive 29-4 victory for Illinois Wesleyan.
Live stats and streams for Saturday’s game will be available on IWU’s athletic website.
