After a successful 2-1 performance last week, the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team is preparing for two midweek games. The team will host a non-conference game on Tuesday, April 29, against Blackburn College, before traveling to Waukesha, Wisconsin, to face Carroll University on Wednesday, April 30.

Illinois Wesleyan, with a record of 21-13 and 12-14 in the conference, recently played a doubleheader against DePauw University on Saturday, April 26. The team won the first game 3-0, with senior Tristan Figus achieving a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Junior pitcher Will Davidsmeier secured the win, striking out seven. The second game ended in an 11-3 defeat for Illinois Wesleyan.

The team has faced Blackburn College 22 times since 2000 and holds a 15-6-1 record against them, although they lost the last meeting on April 30, 2024, with a score of 7-5.

This week's game against Carroll University marks the 24th meeting between the teams, dating back to 2017. Illinois Wesleyan leads the series 17-6. In their most recent encounter three weeks ago, Illinois Wesleyan defeated Carroll with a score of 11-4.

Recently, Illinois Wesleyan secured a spot in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament after defeating Millikin. They currently sit in second place in the conference standings, trailing Carthage, who is 13-3. The upcoming weekend will be pivotal for deciding the regular-season champion and the host of the CCIW Tournament.

Senior Justin Gadomski currently leads the conference in batting average, hits, and doubles, and is second in OPS. Senior Cade Tomhave ranks first in on-base percentage and second in batting average.
