The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is set to compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament following their recent victory in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament. The Titans secured their spot by defeating Elmhurst 16-13 on May 3, marking their third consecutive CCIW Tournament title.
Illinois Wesleyan will face SUNY Cortland in the tournament's second round. The match is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, at York College in Pennsylvania, with a start time of 3 p.m. ET. This marks another postseason appearance for IWU, which has previously qualified for the national tournament several times, holding a record of 5-6.
SUNY Cortland enters the tournament after a decisive 19-9 win over SUNY Oneonta in the SUNYAC Championship on May 3. With an overall record of 17-2, they will play against Illinois Wesleyan for only the second time; Cortland won their previous encounter on March 13, 2024.
The winner between Illinois Wesleyan and Cortland will advance to face either York or the victor of Farmingdale St. versus Trinity (Conn.) in the third round on Sunday, May 11.
The NCAA Division III men's lacrosse tournament runs from May 7 to May 25, culminating with the championship game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
