After securing the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Regular Season Championship, the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team has been recognized with eight All-CCIW honors and one specialty award. The league office announced these postseason accolades on Tuesday, May 6. This achievement marks the highest number of all-conference selections for the Titans since 2008 when nine players were honored.
In his inaugural year as head coach, Michael Kellar was named CCIW Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 16-4 record in conference play. Under his guidance, the Titans clinched their first CCIW Regular Season Championship since 2013.
Three players from Illinois Wesleyan earned First Team All-CCIW honors: seniors Justin Gadomski and Cade Tomhave, along with junior Jake Pullam. Seniors Jimmy Gurgone and Tyler Woltman, juniors Jack Flagg and Gage Wolfe, and sophomore John Philip Ferraro were named to the All-CCIW Second Team. Additionally, senior William Duff received IWU's CCIW RESPECT award.
Gadomski repeated as an All-CCIW First Team member thanks to his strong offensive performance this season. He ranks third in batting average at .402 and second in OPS at 1.108 within the conference. Over 20 starts, he achieved a conference-high of 37 hits from 92 at-bats.
Tomhave received all-conference honors for the first time in his career by delivering a balanced offensive season with a .366 batting average and .942 OPS over 20 games.
Pullam made his mark on the mound with a 2.27 ERA over 31.2 innings pitched, ranking fourth in ERA within CCIW.
Gurgone secured his first career All-CCIW honor by maintaining a .302 batting average during conference play.
Woltman was recognized for his defensive skills behind the plate while also contributing offensively with a .246 batting average.
Flagg earned his first CCIW honor due to his contributions both at bat (.375 average) and on the mound across seven innings pitched.
Wolfe made an impact in his first season with Illinois Wesleyan by hitting .333 over all games played.
Ferraro brought power to IWU's lineup with four home runs among other achievements this season.
The Titans will host the upcoming CCIW Tournament at Jack Horenberger Field from May 7-10.
