For the first time since 2021, Illinois Wesleyan University's women's lacrosse team has representation on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region Team. Senior Mia Fiandaca was awarded Second Team All-Region honors, as announced by the organization on Friday, May 16. Fiandaca is the 17th player in the program's history to receive this accolade and the first under head coach Abby Kushina.

Fiandaca, who hails from St. Charles, Illinois, concluded her career with an impressive season. She was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Year and earned her second First Team All-CCIW honor. Throughout this season, she was recognized twice as CCIW Defensive Player of the Week, bringing her career total to six weekly awards.

During her final year with Illinois Wesleyan University, Fiandaca set a new single-season record for caused turnovers with 58 over 12 games—averaging a program-best of 4.83 per game. Additionally, she established a new single-season record for ground balls per game with an average of 3.92 and led her team with 47 ground balls throughout the season.

On offense, Fiandaca also made significant contributions by leading her team in goals (36) and points (28). Her average of three goals per game ranks as the second-best season average in program history.

Fiandaca continued to break records during individual games as well; she recorded single-game highs of ten ground balls against Illinois Tech on February 26 and twelve caused turnovers against Edgewood on March 1.

She was one of two student-athletes from CCIW honored on this list alongside Carroll's Grace Tumilty who also received second-team recognition.
