With the end of the 2024-25 season, Illinois Wesleyan University's men's tennis team announced its award recipients and letterwinners. Head coach Sam Totten shared the news from Bloomington, Illinois.
Junior Ian Turnbull was named the team's Most Valuable Player for the third consecutive year. He maintained his position at the top singles and doubles spots. Turnbull, a three-time Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honoree, participated in all 18 dual matches and two tournaments this season as a co-captain. His record stood at 10-13 in singles and 11-13 in doubles.
Co-captain Ben Vigneri received recognition as the team's CCIW Tournament MVP. Vigneri played alongside Turnbull in No. 1 doubles for most of the season. The pair led 4-3 in their CCIW Quarterfinal match against Carthage College when it was abandoned. In No. 2 singles during that match, Vigneri lost his first set but aimed to recover before the Firebirds secured a win at 4-0.
Sophomore Thad Dillow earned the Most Improved Player award after competing in all dual matches and one tournament. Primarily playing No. 4 singles, Dillow achieved an overall record of 8-13 in individual contests and partnered with Ryan McCoy for No. 2 doubles, ending with a paired play record of 5-16.
Coach Totten awarded letters to all seven student-athletes on the team, with six returning for next season.
Ian Turnbull, Ben Vigneri, Griffin Hammond, Sebastian Rasquin received their third letters; Thad Dillow and Chase Tomecki were awarded their second letters; Ryan McCoy received his fifth letter.
