BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its All-American teams during the NCAA Division III Softball National Championship banquet in Uptown Normal on May 28. Illinois Wesleyan University senior shortstop Jen Kuhn was named to the NFCA All-America First Team, marking the 11th time a player from the program has received this honor.
Kuhn becomes the fourth player in Illinois Wesleyan history to achieve First Team status and is the first since Ally Wiegand in 2019. During her four-year tenure with the team, Kuhn recorded a standout season, achieving a career-high batting average of .449. She accumulated 70 hits, including 17 doubles and eight home runs, while driving in 57 runs and scoring 38 times. Kuhn led her team in several categories such as hits, doubles, RBIs, slugging percentage (.712), and on-base percentage (.473). She ranked second among her teammates for runs scored and tied for second with eight home runs.
In addition to being named First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), Kuhn was recognized as a three-time CCIW Hitter of the Week and earned First Team All-Region honors. Her defensive skills were also acknowledged as she was awarded CCIW's Defensive Player of the Year with an impressive fielding percentage of .983.
Kuhn's achievements have placed her among some of the best players in IWU history. She is one of only four Titans to reach or exceed 66 hits in a season since 2018. Her tally of 17 doubles ties for second-most in a single season at IWU, while her total of 57 RBIs ranks second historically.
As she graduates, Kuhn leaves behind significant records: she is now IWU's all-time leader in doubles with 49 and shares the record for career hits (226) with Jillian Runyon. Additionally, she ranks third all-time for runs scored (131) and fifth for home runs (24).
Kuhn was one of two players from CCIW to be honored on these postseason teams; Carthage's Clare Rettler also made it to the first team as an outfielder.
