A total of 111 students from Illinois Wesleyan University have been named to the Dave Wrath Academic All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) list for the spring. The announcement was made by the league office on Friday, June 20. Among those recognized were men's golfer Griffin Pohl and softball shortstop Jen Kuhn, who were selected as IWU's Jack Swartz Award recipients.
The Academic All-CCIW list includes individuals who have maintained a grade-point average of 3.30 or higher and have completed at least one year at their respective institutions.
Additionally, the CCIW announced the Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award winners. Each member institution selects two student-athletes (one male and one female) from each sports season—fall, winter, spring—to be honored. To qualify, an athlete must have a GPA of 3.50 or above and must have completed at least one year in residency.
Griffin Pohl, a finance major with a 3.77 GPA, had an impressive final collegiate season. He was named CCIW Men's Golfer of the Year and earned Golf Coaches Association of America PING Second Team All-American status as well as PING All-Region honors. Pohl was ranked as the 13th-best golfer in Division III with an average score of 71.0 strokes per round over 11 tournaments.
Jen Kuhn finished her college career with numerous accolades this year. She was named College Sports Communicators Division III Softball Academic All-America of the Year and received several awards for her defensive skills at shortstop. Kuhn also led her team with a .449 batting average, recording 70 hits and setting records for career doubles and hits at IWU.
Both Pohl and Kuhn join other IWU athletes like Nick Roper, Lauren Huber, Macy Ludwig, and Josh Hlavacek as recipients of this year's Jack Swartz Award.
