Illinois Wesleyan celebrates academic success among track athletes

Illinois Wesleyan University's track and field programs have been recognized with ten athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District list as of June 24, 2025. Of these, four individuals have advanced to the ballot for Academic All-America honors.

Among those advancing is Chudy, a senior neuroscience major with a GPA of 3.88. She achieved notable placements in cross country and track events, earning her third consecutive all-region honor and previously securing CSC Third Team Academic All-America status.

Another standout is , who previously received CSC First Team Academic All-America recognition in basketball. During the outdoor season, she secured First Team All-America honors in heptathlon and graduated with a biology degree and a GPA of 3.68.

McGrath, graduating with a secondary education and mathematics degree while maintaining a 3.86 GPA, contributed significantly to IWU's success in relay events and individual performances across various distances.

Waterson was recognized for his top-50 regional rankings in multiple events, including being the CCIW Outdoor 800m champion. He completed his economics degree with a GPA of 3.51.

Ladewig earned this distinction for the second time thanks to his performances in hammer throw and weight throw events while achieving a business and finance degree with an impressive 3.94 GPA.

Wagner also repeated his accolade from last year by excelling in shot put events during both indoor and outdoor seasons, maintaining a business GPA of 3.63 as team captain.

Mogged achieved regional rankings during his sophomore year while pursuing studies that resulted in him receiving this award for the first time alongside his career-best performance at the Roger Haynes Invitational.

Crabtree earned her second straight honor by qualifying for nationals in cross country and track events while excelling academically as an environmental studies major with a GPA of 3.84.

earned her first award after an impressive outdoor season where she ranked regionally across three different events while studying elementary education with a GPA of 3.89.

Finally, Godsey made it onto the list behind strong performances in triple jump competitions throughout both indoor and outdoor seasons as he pursued double majors in kinesiology & allied health along with marketing boasting an outstanding GPA of 3.98.

The upcoming announcements for Academic All-America teams are scheduled next month: women's awards on July 15 followed by men's on July 16.
