Illinois State alumni active across major and minor league baseball teams

Professional baseball is progressing towards the 2025 All-Star Break, and Illinois State University alumni are making their mark in various leagues. Eight former Redbirds are currently active in professional baseball.

Paul DeJong, a shortstop for the Washington Nationals, signed with the team in February after ending the previous season with the Kansas City Royals. In 16 games, he has achieved a batting average of .204 with 11 hits and four doubles.

Brock Stewart, a right-handed pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, has made 26 appearances this season. His record stands at 1-1 with nine holds over 23 innings pitched. He has recorded 32 strikeouts while limiting opponents to a .193 batting average.

John Rave debuted in Major League Baseball with the Kansas City Royals on May 26 against Cincinnati Reds. The outfielder from Canton, Illinois, has played in 22 games for Kansas City with a .184 batting average. Earlier this season, he performed strongly for Omaha Storm Chasers at AAA level.

Brent Headrick began his year on the New York Yankees' roster but also spent time playing for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (AAA). With New York Yankees, he has participated in 11 games maintaining an ERA of 4.73 across over thirteen innings.

Owen Miller has split his time between Colorado Rockies and Albuquerque Isotopes (AAA), participating in a total of 53 games this year. At AAA level, Miller boasts a .290 batting average alongside notable performances like extending his hitting streak to sixteen games.

Colton Johnson pitches for Oakland Athletics’ affiliate Midland RockHounds (AA). He holds an ERA of 2.74 across twenty-three innings this season while achieving eighteen strikeouts so far.

Elijah Dale plays as right-handed pitcher for Seattle Mariners’ Everett AquaSox (High-A). In twenty-two appearances during current season; Dale accumulated thirty-three strikeouts within twenty-nine innings holding opponents down to .182 batting average overall performance thus far includes four holds plus one save recorded too!

Ryan Cermak represented Tampa Bay Rays initially joining FCL Rays where hit impressive numbers before moving onto Bowling Green Hot Rods later continuing successful stint despite recent injury absence since June seventeenth due ongoing recovery process presently underway accordingly now observed instead...
