Illinois Wesleyan softball players honored for outstanding performances

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team concluded its successful season with the announcement of its team awards on Wednesday, July 2. Seniors Jen Kuhn and Ava Khoury, along with freshman Riley McDoniel, were recognized for their contributions to the team's achievements this year.

Jen Kuhn was named the team's Most Valuable Player after a standout season. Her accolades include being a First Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and receiving a Rawlings Gold Glove. She also earned the title of College Sports Communicators Division III Softball Academic All-America of the Year. Kuhn's performance included leading her team with a .449 batting average, 70 hits, 17 doubles, and 57 RBIs. She graduates as Illinois Wesleyan's career doubles leader and shares the top spot on the all-time hits list.

Ava Khoury received the Gwen Meyer Award after completing an impressive career in 2025. As the program's career home run record holder, she hit .375 during the season with nine home runs. Khoury was voted First Team All-CCIW and achieved CSC Third Team Academic All-America status.

Freshman Riley McDoniel was recognized as the team's Most Improved Player after playing in 23 games and making two starts. She posted a .357 batting average with five hits in 14 at-bats.

The Illinois Wesleyan softball team finished their season with a 37-9 overall record, breaking their longest win streak record with 25 consecutive victories. They claimed both regular season and tournament championships in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and won a regional in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament for the first time since 2019.
