Village of Gridley Village Board met July 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Jeff Benedict opened with a word of prayer.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Beth Steidinger, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. No employees were present.

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the June meeting minutes. There were none. Jay made a motion to approve the minutes and Kevin seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Mick made a motion to approve the bills and payroll. Beth seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Trustees reviewed the Treasurer’s report. After discussion, Michael made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report. Richard seconded. All trustees answered in the affirmative.

Michael reported that the payroll costs for O & M have traditionally been paid from General Fund and then O & M would reimburse general fund. O & M does not generate income to the extent it did when the Kerry plant was in operation so it was suggested by the auditor that we pay O & M payroll from general fund without reimbursement. Michael made a motion to pay O & M payroll from general fund. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Michael presented copies of the draft budget to trustees and invited them to suggest changes prior to the next board meeting.

Michael reported that the village certificates of deposit will come due on July 11, 2025. The new rate is 4.09%, 4.15% APY. Michael made a motion to roll the CDs at the new rate for another 6 months. Beth seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Michael reported that the audit fund is short for paying the current invoice. Michael made a motion to transfer $2,500 from General Fund to Audit Fund. Keviin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Rene’ Carroll attended the board meeting. She has noticed that the park equipment in the Third Street Park is in need of repair and sprucing up. She also pointed out that there is a loose rail on the bridge at Westview Park. Rene’ presented a donation to the village to help cover expenses for upgrades.

Rene’ also asked that the bushes and brush be trimmed back in the alley between 1st and 2nd, Center to Woodford.

Calista Blaylock attended the meeting. She expressed concern that an adult has been yelling at youths who are playing at the basketball/tennis courts in the evening with lights on.

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.
