The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will travel to face Knox College on Saturday, September 6 at Jorge Prats Field in Galesburg, Illinois. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan's most recent game against Eureka College, originally set for Wednesday, September 4, was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Titans currently hold a 2-0-0 record after securing two wins at the JR Hoe Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky. In their opening match of the season on August 29, they defeated Spalding University with a score of 5-1. Junior forward Matthew Perchik scored twice during that game. Sophomore Ben Lyons added a goal and an assist, while freshmen Daniel Smazil and Dillon Baker each recorded their first career goals.
In the following match against Centre College, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Illinois Wesleyan, Lyons scored again on a one-on-one play. Junior Joey Rodino delivered the winning goal with a volley in the 19th minute.
Knox College enters Saturday's contest with a record of 0-0-1 after playing North Central College to a 2-2 draw in its home opener on August 29.
Illinois Wesleyan leads the all-time series against Knox with an 11-3 record. Their most recent meeting took place last year at Neis Field where the Titans won by a score of 1-0. The teams have played annually since 2021 and are located approximately 85 miles apart.
