The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team began its season at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Invitational in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The event brought together teams from across the conference for both singles and doubles matches.
Freshman Will Ehrlich competed in the No. 4 singles bracket, starting with a loss to North Central's Rafael Misquel Isern, 6-1, 6-2. Ehrlich secured his first collegiate win in a back draw match against David Eman of Carroll, finishing 6-3, 3-6, 10-7. He is set to play Matt Crossoland from North Central for fifth place on the second day of competition.
In seventh singles, freshman Truman Raher defeated Carson Leighton of Carroll with scores of 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 in round robin play. Raher will face Diego Alvarez from Carthage next.
For doubles action, Raher teamed up with sophomore Aidan Mulcahey to win their opening No. 4 doubles match against Ian Saner and Aidan Friedman of Carthage by an 8-6 margin.
Other results for Illinois Wesleyan included losses in several singles and doubles matches against opponents from North Central College (NCC), Wheaton College (WHE), Carthage College (CART), and Carroll University (CU). Full results are available on the team's website after completion of all matches.
The Titans will continue their participation in the CCIW Invitational tomorrow morning. According to the team’s announcement: "Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the match."
