The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team secured its first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Illinois College on Saturday, September 6, in Jacksonville, Illinois. The Titans now hold a 1-2-0 record for the season, while Illinois College drops to 2-1-1.

A mistake by the Lady Blues goalkeeper in the 14th minute gave sophomore Taylor Haun an opportunity to gain possession near the box. Haun passed to senior Kayley Carew, who scored her first career goal as a Titan with a shot from 30 yards out.

In the second half, sophomore Liza Wiley maneuvered past her defender and set up Jenna Gravitt for the team's second goal in the 70th minute. Four minutes later, after regaining possession from an Illinois College corner kick, Haun advanced the ball before Wiley finished a solo run with another goal.

The Titans' defense limited Illinois College to just one shot on goal during the match. Sophomore Vanessa Gray started as goalkeeper and played nearly 70 minutes. Freshman Lauren Watson and sophomore Ella Randall shared time in goal to finish out the game.

Illinois Wesleyan will return home for a non-conference match against Monmouth on Wednesday, September 10 at Neis Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
